Product Design Services That Deliver The Product of Your Dreams!
Product Design Services are an applied art whereby the aesthetics and usability of products may be improved for marketability and production. The team of Industrial Designers at Sonos Product Development are experts in creating and executing design solutions to problems of engineering, marketing, brand development and sales.
Your new product design begins with the creation of 2D concept drawings that we produce by hand or digitally on a computer design station. Typically, 2-3 concept options of your new product concept or inventor’s invention are created for your review. These are a taking off point for your production product and company. Not only do these designs start to define the ergonomics and style of your product they will set the corporate branding for the future. In the early stages of the product development these new product concepts can help in many ways. They define the details and look of the new product but can also be used for premarketing and to help with fund raising efforts while the rest of the new product development process is progressing. These designs set the stage for your product and your brand vision.
After we complete the concept design phase for your new product or invention and it is approved by you, the technical engineering phase starts. In Phase 2, we create computer generated, 3D CAD drawings of each component necessary to build the first prototype of your dream product. To do this we use the state of the art, Solidworks 3D CAD software. Once each part is complete and the assembly of all the components are tested and perfected we prepare CAD images for you to review for the approval to move on to the making of the prototype model.
In Phase 3, Sonos creates one prototype or sample model using traditional model making methods or the best rapid prototyping method that is the most suited to the material requirements needed for your new product or invention. We may need to test the fitting and adjust, we will paint the prototype parts where needed and in some cases, add a logo or graphics where required. Sonos then will take ‘Studio Style’ product photos of your masterpiece and present in person or email them to you for your review and approval. Our professional quality studio photos are included FREE and these images can be used for packaging design concepts, website design, sales flyers & all promotional activities. (We can quote all your graphic and marketing needs as part of our one stop shopping and turn key services)
Sonos can manage the manufacturing as a turn-key/hands off solution. Once your prototype is approved we may need to prepare a turn over package and engineering documentation to put your product into production. We will work with and communicate night and day with our factories to get your product produced. We have a specialized system and team devoted just to the complicated logistics and paperwork required to deliver the manufactured product from the factories to our warehouse or your door. Sonos can warehouse your products and drop ship directly to your customers without any touch or time from you. Total turn-key, A to Z, hands off income generation. This will best position the entrepreneur in you for success!

Our Product Design Process
Industrial / Product Design is the fusion of Art and Science. It strives to give manufacturers a competitive edge in the marketplace by enhancing both the actual and perceived value of the products that it produces, making them user-friendly, durable, visually distinctive, attractive, and at the same time economical to manufacture.
Industrial design encompasses all phases of product development, from the earliest stages of conceptualization, through the start of volume production, ensuring that the product is optimized in all respects. The design firm works closely with outside specialists such as electronics engineers, circuit board manufacturers, sheet metal fabricators, welders, metal platers, mold makers and plastics molding firms to assure that each component of a design is valid, and that the development of the product is well coordinated.
The design process begins by first carefully determining the initial requirements of the client. Often, the client has unique objectives beyond what is immediately obvious. The initial idea is then refined in phase two, taking into consideration factors such as ergonomics, safety, structural integrity and manufacturing costs, as well as various visual and marketing opportunities. Several design options are presented to the client in the form of conceptual sketches. Simplified sketch models are often built in order to more closely evaluate size, feel and presence of a proposed design.
Specifics about Sonos Product Development
Sonos Product Development has been developing products for clients in the industrial, consumer product, toy, and medical industries for over 39 years, and produces both traditional illustrations and computer renderings, as needed. Computers are often employed in the very early stages of the design of a new product in the interest of efficiency. Graphics play an important role in the look of a product, and here too, computers are used to full advantage at Sonos. Products can be quickly evaluated on the screen in various colors and configurations, and with various graphic treatments applied. Prints can then be made for further evaluation by the client company.
Often the development of a new product design also represents the launch of a new company or division. Sonos often handles new logo design and even corporate identity programs for clients with these needs.
